The LIDAR open-air tests have been performed outside the LENS building within the Sesto Fiorentino University Campus.

Several tests have been performed with solid targets at different distances, including paperboard target, walls, trees, plastic or metallic obstacles. The video below shows the LIDAR targeting a wall at a distance of about 30 meters. The video shows the LIDAR, the control panel, the targeted wall and the received backscattered signal.

Other tests have been performed at larger distances. The video below shows the signal from a target at a distance of about 55 meters. Although the larger distance, the received signal is higher than the previous test because it comes from the licence plate of a scooter.

Nocturnal tests have been performed too. No difference has been observed in the LIDAR performance with respect to daily tests.
